Who We Are
We’re Brook & Elise: two moms, friends, and founders on a mission to make childhood a little more magical, and learning a little more meaningful.
Between the everyday chaos we’ve shared the same question so many parents have: Why does learning feel so secondary now? Where did it get so lost?
We both grew up in an era where discovery came through curiosity: through outdoor adventure and hands-on play. The introduction of technology fueled curiosity, it didn't detract from it. We were taught to use it intentionally. To connect, not distract. The belief that wonder should be both felt and learned, is at the heart of Protege Kids.
What Inspired Us
We were inspired by the tools that shaped us. The ones that lit up classrooms and imaginations long before limitless screens took over. The overhead projector. The slide reel. The telescope. The microscope. The list goes on & on. Objects that turned learning into something tangible: where curiosity meant touching, seeing, doing, not just passively listening.
Those tools didn’t just teach lessons - they taught patience, focus, and the beauty of discovery. We believe children today deserve that same kind of wonder, only reimagined for the world they’re growing up in.
Protege Kids was born to bring back the best of those timeless learning experiences, blending the warmth of analog play with the possibility of digital innovation, so learning feels human again.
Why we Built Protege Kids
Modern childhood has become a tug-of-war between overstimulation and absence. We’re either surrounded by screens that demand attention or we’re left searching for meaningful alternatives to engage young minds. We wanted to create something in between, a bridge, where visual learning is purposeful, immersive, and safe.
We believe education should inspire curiosity, not anxiety. It should invite children to explore their world at their own pace and give parents peace of mind knowing what they’re engaging with is enriching, intentional, and safe.
How We're Doing it
Our first product, The Projector, reimagines one of the most iconic learning tools in history. It pairs modern technology with tactile, child-friendly "reels" that bring stories, lessons, and visuals to life without overstimulation. Each reel becomes a moment of connection: between child and story, between past and future, between imagination and understanding.
Through our in-house Protege Kids Media team, we create original educational stories that teach children not just what to think, but how to explore, question and dream. We often say it's like a storybook coming to life.
We’re building more than a toy company. We’re building a movement. One that reminds families that innovation doesn’t have to mean isolation. Sometimes, the most meaningful progress is rediscovering what’s always worked… and making it shine again.
